Some Band Posters- Research

This is the band 'two door cinema club' i like this poster a lot, i think the black and white is very effective and also the way they have split each band member into a separate section.

This is the band 'arctic monkeys' again i like this poster because i feel that the black and white is very effective and also the low angle that it has been shot gives a good view of the band. How you can see the shadows below them also makes the poster more interesting.

This is a more graphic type of poster, a lot of editing has been involved with this one but i think it has a very good effect and makes it a bit more interesting.

This is 'two door cinema club' again, this time i have chosen a poster in colour because i like how the colours stand out and are bold, i also like the shadowing that is created and how the image has a dark outline.

Arctic monkeys again, this time in colour but i have chosen this poster because i like the surroundings and the props chosen. Gives the poster some character and almost more humor.

My Album Cover For Happy Wednesdays

This is the front cover and the back of our album 'attract'. Created on photoshop it shows me and dave on the front and our song names on the back.

This is the inside sleeve of the album, it is made slightly smaller than the front cover and it fits inside it. It shows me and Connor on one side and on the back it shows the line up for the band, the guests that helped with the album and the photographers that helped

Location ideas for album cover

Graffiti tags i found in my location for album shoot, edited contrast and exposure.

Just a simple idea for the cover, needs work. Edited the colour, contrast and exposure

Another bit of graffiti on the walls of the location. Edited the colour, contrast and exposure

Portrait Photos.

I took this photo of paige in the studio and opened it on photoshop and changed the colour to black and white and up'ed the contrast and brightness

Album Cover Research

My Action Plan For My Album Cover

Week 1- research album covers from all different sorts of bands and take ideas to use for our own cover.

Week 2- take a series of pictures in a location that we could possibly use for our album cover, using ideas from the album covers i have researched.

Week 3- choose at most 3 photos for our album cover to use as final ones.

Week 4- get the album printed and then completed so you can see the finished product.

Haunted Road Album Cover- Designed by Joe Clixby

This is my album cover i designed for a band, the cover photo was taken from the homepage of flikr, i saw the first image and randomly took the image and developed it in photoshop so it was a square. The album name was taken at random from wikiquotes so i didn't have any say in the naming of the album. I then edited the text to fit the image and make it a bit more professional looking and more interesting.

Vampire Weekend - A-Punk

TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB | UNDERCOVER MARTYN

Evaluation

Over the past 6 weeks i have created my blog and done plenty of research towards the band photography aspect. The aim was to capture the development of Band Identity and my blog helps to show how i am developing this, for example adding photos i have taken and photos others have taken (research). I can also add videos of my own or other bands from you tube.

I have taken a series of my own images in the studio and also taken images from the web from artists who specialize in band photography, i have taken ideas from this work and incorporated it into my own work and photos. We took the music video from Vampire Weekend called A Punk and created our own similar version using 3 guitars, a microphone and a camera. This video worked very well and is an important piece in our research because it allows us to compare the two and see how we can improve.

We can also use the blog to see how our other group members are doing and to compare our work to others enabling to develop our ideas more. The blog site is also used for our tutors to see our progress and add comments to our work.

I think so far the whole project has gone very well, i enjoy working practically and having things to show for my work i produce, i haven't experienced any major problems within my work and i now just need to improve things a little bit to create better photos and videos.

Band Photography Evaluation

I think that our band photography went really well and we got some really strong and productive images. We defiantly produced images that reflect the band image and i think this was produced because of the props we used and the lighting we created for the shoot. To improve these images i think we could make 35% of them more in focus by coming further forward to the camera as when we were further back we became more blurry. The photos also created the band look because they are full body images and are set up to look how they do.
